Personal Care: What Does It Really Mean?

At Enixcare, we provide personalised assessment and support to meet each service user’s individual needs—while always respecting their independence and personal choices.

Some individuals may require hands-on assistance with personal care, and we ensure that this support is delivered with dignity, respect, and sensitivity.

We actively encourage service users to share their preferences, offer suggestions, and participate in shaping their care experience, helping us continually improve the support we provide.

Enixcare Limited also maintains a comprehensive set of policies and procedures, which are available to service users upon request through their carer.

The nature of our services

At Enixcare, we provide personal care and support with respect, sensitivity, and a commitment to maintaining each service user’s privacy, dignity, culture, and lifestyle. Our goal is to empower individuals while assisting them with essential daily activities, always ensuring their comfort and well-being.

Our personal care services include:

  • Dressing and undressing
  • Bathing, washing, shaving, and oral hygiene
  • Toilet and continence support Safe moving and handling (where assessed)
  • Health and medication assistance (within our scope of practice)
  • Meal preparation and support with eating
  •  Handling personal possessions and documents
  •  Respectful access to flats, rooms, and bathrooms
  •  Light housekeeping and shopping support
  • Accompaniment to health appointments
  • Social visits—both at home and in the community

At Enixcare, your comfort, independence, and well-being come first.

We are committed to consultation with the Service User and their Carers/Professionals. We will inform and involve the Service User in advance, wherever possible, of any decision to change the Carer, if the change is permanent, or likely to last longer than 30 days. 

The services we do not provide during care calls.

Limitations of Our Care Services

While we strive to provide comprehensive support, there are certain tasks we are unable to assist with due to health and safety regulations or because they fall within the scope of other specialised services.

We do not provide assistance with:

  • Medical procedures – Applying dressings, suppositories, or pessaries
  • Heavy lifting – Any lifting beyond a carer’s personal capacity
  • Household tasks requiring special equipment – Changing curtains, cleaning windows, or heavy gardening involving machinery or ladders (our company handyman can assist with these upon assessment)
  • Moving heavy furniture or items (requests can be assessed by our handyman)
  • Provision of specialist equipment – We do not supply continence aids, wheelchairs, or other specialist equipment, but we can assist in contacting the relevant agencies
  • Nail cutting – Fingernail and toenail care will be discussed during a needs and risk assessment

At Enixcare, we ensure that all service users receive the right support and referrals to the appropriate professionals when needed.

  • Personalised Care Plan – Based on this assessment, we develop a care plan that aligns with their needs, preferences, and goals. Service users have full access to their care plan at all times and are encouraged to provide feedback, raise queries, or request changes.
  • Ongoing Review – Care plans are reviewed regularly and adjusted according to the individual’s evolving needs, ensuring continuous, effective support.
  • Access to Support – If service users need additional help, they can reach out to the manager, support staff, social worker, or an advocacy service for guidance and assistance.
